Introduced in 1957 the Allis-Chalmers D 272 was produced at the British Essendine factory in Lincolnshire. Power was provided by either a 30 h.p. petrol engine, 26 h.p. TVO engine or as above a Perkins P3-144 diesel engine. The price of the basic diesel version in 1957 was £514. Optional factory fitted extras included electric starting (standard on diesel versions), belt pulley, live hydraulic linkage, power take-off, power adjusted rear wheels, road lights, radiator shutter and wheel weights. Production of the D272 ceased in 1960 when it was replaced by the Allis-Chalmers ED 40 series.
